The big adventure of a little line (Le petit trait)

A book app about a boy who finds "a little piece of line" and picks it up.  The story follows the adventures of the boy and the line throughout his life and offers the readers opportunities to draw pictures with the line (or erase lines) at points in the story that move the story along.  The tale includes imaginary fire fighting and bullies that can be erased as well as lighter things like drawing wings on the boy when he falls so he can fly up.  Each time there is an opportunity to draw, the app provides a dotted line that kids can follow (tracing lines is a great pre-writing skill!) or th

Skeletitos

A charming sing-along (or read-along) app based on the song (and board book) "Skeletitos" with the catchy chorus, "tumba-laca, tumba-laca, tumba, tumba..."  It's a song about Dia de los Muertos, skeletons, and telling time and the illustrations (as well as the song) are full of beautiful Latinx cultural elements.

News-O-Matic

A news app specifically designed for kids.  Each day, 5 new articles are posted with topics ranging from human interest (it's right before Halloween as I'm writing this review and today's top story is about a candy maker) to world news (there's also an article about the presidential election in Argentina).  When you click on a story, you can read the text in English, Spanish, French or Arabic or have the text read to you by a native speaker of that language.  There's also a related video, slideshow, an additional fact related to the article and a suggested action you can take to learn more

Sesamo TV

Sesame Street videos in Spanish!  Are you looking for Spanish content for your child?  Whether they are learning Spanish or Spanish is their primary language, listening to the Sesame Street videos in Spanish is a great way to get more Spanish language content into your home.

Sago Mini Airport

Although Sago Mini already had an app called "Planes," this newest app in their collection focuses on a different part of the air travel experience -- not the flight itself, but the airport experience.  When kids fly for the first time, they may have lots of questions about airports.  Why do you have to put your bags on a moving belt that goes into that mysterious tunnel?  What's in all of those other suitcases on the luggage claim carousel?

Thinkrolls Space

If you liked any of the previos Thinkrolls apps, you'll love this one too!  In Thinkrolls, players must use logic to help a cute rolling character work their way through a vertical maze.  There's lots of logic involved (which step do I need to do first to make sure this works?) and lots of silly action (this particular version begins with a little round monster that eats giant blocks of cheese to get them out of your way).  In addition to Easy (ages 5+) and Difficult (8+) settings, each planet has levels of difficulty which increase gradually to let players learn new skills as they work the

Looking for some great podcasts for kids and the whole family to listen to together? Try the Pinna app.  It includes both podcasts that are Pinna originals made expressly for this app and only available here plus a few apps that were created by others and are included in this app.

Seek

Have you ever been on a nature walk and seen a plant or bug or fungi that you'd never seen before and thought, "I wonder what that is?" Good news!  There's now an app for that!  To be fair, there have been a number of apps over the years that have tried to offer similar functionality, but this is the best one I've ever used so far.  All you need to do is open the app and point your camera at a living organism and it will work on identifying it down to the exact species.  Sometimes it only gets as far as the genus or the family, but especially if you're viewing it live (as opposed to a still
