50 Fabulous Favorites

In their summer reading poll this year NPR decided to focus on the past decade of science fiction and fantasy writing. They first elicited votes from readers and then had a panel of expert judges(link is external) curate the final list of 50 titles. The result is about as good as it gets if you're looking for "recommended" reads in these genres. As I looked through the list I found titles I voted for, Ann Leckie's Ancillary Justice(link is external), Joe Abercrombie's A Little Hatred(link is external),  S. A. Chakraborty's The City of Brass(link is external), The Goblin Emperor(link is external) by Katherine Addison, and R. F. Kuang's The Poppy War(link is external) to name more than a few. I also found titles I will now be moving up my TBR pile like Arkady Martine's A Memory Called Empire(link is external) and Gideon the Ninth(link is external) (pretty sure I own a copy of this one).

Truly there's something for every reading taste - and I'm not just talking about genre fans. Take a look at their final choices and the criteria for how they made them(link is external) (in case you think something is missing) to see what you think. I believe you'll soon be putting the LINKcat app to work.
