A review of Favorite Sci-Fi and Fantasy Books of the Past Decade

In their summer reading poll this year NPR decided to focus on the past decade of science fiction and fantasy writing. They first elicited votes from readers and then had a panel of expert judges curate the final list of 50 titles. The result is about as good as it gets if you're looking for "recommended" reads in these genres. As I looked through the list I found titles I voted for, Ann Leckie's Ancillary Justice, Joe Abercrombie's A Little Hatred, S. A. Chakraborty's The City of Brass, The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison, and R. F. Kuang's The Poppy War to name more than a few. I also found titles I will now be moving up my TBR pile like Arkady Martine's A Memory Called Empire and Gideon the Ninth (pretty sure I own a copy of this one).
